It Followed Us

Hi there! Its Sophia, from Team Delacourt!

We’ve just made it back from our “holiday” in Malta.

I’m gonna just go and put those quotation marks in there, because although we did spend a week in Malta, is was far from relaxing as my sister’s crappy Pain Star followed us.

You see, Althea has what she calls the “Pain Star” above her head that kind of follows her around, and tortures her whenever it gets bored. I know, I know, it sounds unbelievable. But its true.

Adrien has just got to make a comic about it.

Let me tell you what happened.

The holiday started off well enough, although we very nearly couldn’t go at all.

We missed Malta’s worst storm since 1982 by a single day. They literally had to close down the airport.

But, luckily, when we landed last Monday, the worst had passed, and the weather was back to normal, beautiful with an occasional storm/shower to liven things up a bit.

And the first 2 days were amazing.

I did absolutely nothing, and thoroughly enjoyed it. Baby spent the day running around our new exciting flat and clambering on the sofa he’d claimed as his own. His Dad did a very sexy drawing, and his Mum read her Charlaine Harris books, while drinking herself into a Kinnie-induced torpor, of course.
Its a Maltese, non alcoholic soft-drink btw, and I think she bought pretty much every single Maltese speciality she could find. Bigilla, Raviul…
We. Ate. So. Many. Pastizzi.

I should have known it wouldn’t last.

On Wednesday, Althea came down with gastrointestinal flu, and a really bad case of sinusitis. Then the baby caught it too, and so did her husband.
Fever, headache, vomiting, diarrhoea…

Not exactly how they’d imagined spending their holidays. 🙁

As for me, I take a natural anti-viral as I have a very weak immune system, and managed to avoid catching it during the entire holiday, but got a bad case of sinus on the way back.

I’ve still got it, in fact, although I’m feeling better, thanks to the meds I’m taking *sigh*.

I spent the week trying to relax, and did a lot of Aunting. Mostly so that my sister and her hubby could rest as much as possible, but also because my nephew is the best. We had a lot of fun together.

Anyway. We are back. We are alive. We did have a holiday, kindof, and we are SO READY for what’s coming next!

What is coming next, I hear you ask?

My sister is going to record The Voice of The Voiceless and The Boy Who Forgot, so if you like listening to audio books, well, they will soon be available!

Its so exciting.

And don’t worry. We are definitely working on the books themselves, too.

While you wait, would you like to lose yourself in a new series? You can check out this collection of sci-fi, fantasy, and horror series starters, and see if there is something you like.

So. Do you have a Pain Star that follows you around and ruins your holidays for you? Do you even believe in Pain Stars? Maybe you think I’m a bit crazy. I don’t blame you, tbh, I didn’t believe in them either, for a long time.
I do now though.

Oh and my sisters car (the one that she had rented for the week) was keyed before we left and she had to pay over 2000 dollars to cover the repairs (it was in the contract). She’s hoping her insurance will cover the damage. We don’t know yet.

The Pain Star is strong with this one.

Tell us about your worst holiday disasters or let us know your thoughts in the comments below or at delacourtpublishingATgmailDOTcom! We’d love to hear them!
